Is treating high blood pressure dangerous?

Those dealing with health-themed forums might have had a chance to hear from a person desperate from trying to live both high blood pressure and effects from its treatment. Patients taking medicines to lower blood pressure mostly are experts as far as their side effects is concerned. Obviously, people who live with hypertension without any drugs are not so good at it. Sometimes, it’s difficult to say which way is better.

Blood pressure remedies are divided into several classes, each with its own “peculiar” sides. More often than not treating hypertension requires a number of drugs, which complicates the possible side effects even further. Below the common types of them are mentioned, with potential problems that might arise from taking such drugs.

ACE inhibitors are the possible cause of eruption, loss of taste, constant hacking cough. Few cases of kidney problems were reported. Calcium channel blockers result in constipation, swollen ankles, palpitation, dizziness, and headache.

Diuretics might alter blood chemistry. They are often combined with other blood pressure drugs.
Their side effects include nausea, dizziness, nausea, problems with digestion, eruption, muscle pain, impotence. People taking diuretics for a long time can face painful gout.

Beta-blockers have been long used for hypertension treating. They are a possible cause of cold hands and feet, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, slow heartbeat. Do not forget to add loss of libido and/or impotence to the list.

It is true that such serious effects are rather rare. Not every person suffers severe consequences of taking drugs. Nevertheless, they do have place, either in mild or in more open form.
