Decreasing blood pressure: Overweight, Passivity, Breathing

fatMind you, we speak of excess weight and not of obesity. For some patient several extra pounds are enough to get hypertension. Middle-aged men usually carry their excess weight around hips and waist (not to mention those moobies).
At the same time testosterone level may start declining. During the process certain zones of the body get additional fatty tissues, including the heart. Such state and age along with weakened heart increase the risk of high blood pressure.
Even a ten per cent decrease in weight can sometimes help to overcome hypertension. One of my acquaintances had extra 20 pounds compared with norm. You wouldn’t even notice them on his 6′4″ figure, but together with them he got rid of his problems with high blood pressure.
Obesity is not directly associated with hypertension, but is one of the risk factors. Obese people with escalated blood pressure should begin with losing their weight.
Overweight and diet problems are good friends. The only valid way to start losing weight is to watch what and how much you eat. Do not forget to add exercising to your balanced diet. For people with hypertension DASH diet is recommended. It is based on vegetables, grains, and fruits. High-sodium products and salt should be restricted.
